
Doubles Pair Seeded, as 'Dons Drop Two at ITA Regionals

URBANA, Ill. - The doubles team of Mayu Sato and Marcy Huck have been seeded eighth in the championship draw of the 2014 ITA Regionals, as two Mastodon singles competitors each dropped their opening matches in the qualifying round.
The seeding was the first-ever for the program for an individual or a doubles team. Sato and Huck will get a first round bye in the tournament, and will face off against the winner of the first round doubles battle of Ohio State and Wisconsin.
Sato, who also earned a spot in the main singles draw, will see action at both singles and doubles on Friday.
Carlota Trevino fell 6-3, 6-1 to Mackenzie Bowman of Toledo, before coming back for a 7-5, 6-0 win over Hanemas Pangestu of Chicago State.
Sofia Sorokina fell in her opening match by a 6-3, 6-3 score to Grace Summers of Eastern Illinois.
Competing in the consolation matches only, Huck fell to Jana Schober of Cleveland State by a 6-3, 6-3 score.
