FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The IPFW men's basketball program kicks off the regular-season on Friday evening, when the squad plays host to the Manchester Spartans starting at 7 p.m. at the Gates Sports Center.

SCOUTING THE MASTODONS
The IPFW men's basketball squad kicks off the 2014-15 regular season at home against Manchester, a team that the Mastodons hold a 5-4 lead in the all-time series.
IPFW is coming off of a 110-79 exhibition win over Olivet College, in which Mo Evans scored 20 points, hitting 6-of-7 shots from the field and 4-of-5 from long range. Joe Edwards and Steve Forbes each scored 14 points, each hitting all five of their shots from the field in the contest.
Jure Gunjina scored a dozen points, while Gage Davis and Kevin Harden each scored 11. Isaiah McCray narrowly missed a double-double by scoring nine points and pulling down a game-high 10 rebounds from his guard position. McCray also led the team in assists (4), blocked shots (2), and tied for the team lead with two steals.
SCOUTING THE SPARTANS
Manchester comes into the 2014-15 season-opener looking to rebound from its 5-20 record from a season ago, closing the season on a six-game losing skid.
The squad returns three of five players who started at least 10 times last year, including team scoring leader Brady Dolezal, who averaged 16.8 points per game. Blake Brouwer and Jarod Schrock return after starting all 25 games a season ago, Brouwer averaging 8.4 points and Schrock 6.3.
Brouwer and Schrock are also the team's leading returning rebounders, averaging 4.2 and 4.1 boards per game, respectively, with Schrock also the team's returning leader in assists (46) and blocked shots (25).
PRESEASON FAVORITE
The IPFW men's basketball team was picked to win the 2014-15 Summit League in a poll conducted by the league's head coaches, sports information directors, and select media. IPFW earned 450 points and 13 first-place votes. Denver was picked to finish second with 437 points and 12 first-place votes.
