Busy Schedule for Women's Tennis over Valentine's Weekend

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The IPFW women's tennis team will have a busy schedule during its Valentine's Weekend, as the team hosts Toledo and Bradley on Friday, February 14, hosts Wright State on Saturday, February 15, and travels to Ball State on Sunday, February 16.
SCOUTING THE MASTODONS
The Mastodons head into the weekend with a record of 2-2. They lost their last match against Cleveland State, 5-2, on February 9, breaking a two match winning streak. Against the Vikings, the No. 1 doubles team of Mayu Sato and Marcy Huck picked up the lone victory by a 6-2 score. Miloslava Shustova picked up a victory in straight sets at No. 4 singles 6-3, 6-3, while Sato cruised to a straight sets victory 6-2, 6-2, at No. 1 singles en route to earning Summit League Player of the Week honors.

The Rockets head into Fort Wayne with a record of 3-3 and coming off a 5-2 loss against Detroit, breaking a three-match winning streak. The No. 3 duo of freshman Lauren Thai and sophmore Mackenzie Bowman won 6-4. Senior Chrissy Coffman won in straight sets 6-4, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, while sophmore Emily Mozzola picked up a hard fought 6-2, 7-6 win at No. 4 singles.

The Braves come in at 1-1 on the season, falling to St. Louis, 5-2, on Februrary 7. Senior Adele Henke earned a hard fought victory at No. 1 singles, coming back from one set down to win 0-6, 6-4, 10-8. Freshman Ariel Dechter picked up a straight sets win at No. 2 singles, 6-4, 6-0.

The Raiders are 1-4 on the season and in the midst of a three match losing streak. In their last match against Miami (Ohio) they failed to pick up a victory, losing 7-0. The Raiders had several close matches, with Vannessa Madrigal losing 6-1, 4-6, 10-7 at No. 3 singles and both No. 1 and 2 doubles teams losing 8-6. The Raiders travel to face off with Chicago State on Friday, February 15 before coming to Fort Wayne for the Saturday afternoon match.

The No. 2 doubles team of Toni Ormond and Kristel Sanders started things off with a 6-3 victory before the No. 3 doubles team of Courtney Wild and Ashlyn Rang won in a hard fought victory 7-6, (7-4). In singles action the team only dropped one set, winning in straight sets at the No. 1, 2, 5, and 6 spots. The Cardinals take on Cincinnati at home on Saturday, February 15 before hosting the Mastodons on Sunday.
