FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The IPFW women's tennis team closed out its weekend with a Sunday split, falling 5-2 to Marquette, before sweeping Indiana Tech 7-0.
Against the Golden Eagles, the Mastodons earned the hard-fought doubles point, starting with an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles by Marcy Huck and Mayu Sato. After a Marquette win at No. 2 doubles, the pair of Carlota Trevino and Ella Norgren picked up an 8-7 win, giving IPFW the doubles point.
Trailing 1-0, Marquette won the next two points, winning at No. 3 and No. 4 singles, before a Sato 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles knotted the match again at 2-2.
Knotted at a pair of points each, Marquette answered by winning at No. 2, No. 6, and No. 5 singles
Later that afternoon the Mastodons faced off against Indiana Tech, coached by former IPFW standout Raquel Vescovi.Â
The Mastodons dominated the match 7-0. In doubles, Miloslava Shustova and Emily Richardson won 8-1, while Sofia Sorokina and Trevino won 8-0. The final doubles match, at No. 3, did not happen due to a lack of players on Indiana Tech's squad.

The match was clinched after Sofia Sorokina's 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles. Richardson won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5, before Sato (6-, 6-0) and Norgren (6-2, 6-2) won at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively.
