
Softball to Host Jackrabbits in Summit League Opener

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The IPFW softball team is set for its 2014 Summit League opener when the squad hosts the South Dakota State Jackrabbits at the Midwest Sports Complex in Indianapolis.
SCOUTING THE MASTODONS
The Mastodons this season have been led by their pitching staff, as the team's top two pitchers each have ERA's under 2.00.Â
Megan Flenniken leads the team with a 1.59 ERA and a 9-3 record, striking out 56 batters in 70.1 innings of work, as opponents are hitting just .190 against her. Miranda Kramer is 10-4 this year with 137 strikeouts in 86.2 innings, and sporting a 1.78 ERA.
Offensively the team is led by Larissa Franklin, who is batting .457 with 10 stolen bases and 25 runs scored. Ashleigh Bousquet (.333), and Dani Pugh (.313) each hit over .300 on the season. Pugh leads the team with four home runs and 31 RBIs. Ashleigh Bousquet has two home runs and 12 RBI's, while hitting eight doubles.

South Dakota State comes into the weekend with a 5-14 overall record after falling 8-0 in back-to-back games against the Kansas Jayhawks in which the Jackrabbits had a combined five hits in the two games.
This season Elyse Eitel has a .392 batting average with a team-best 14 runs scored, as Sammy Bingham is batting .333. Devan Larsen leads the team with two home runs and 13 RBIs.Â
Ashlyn Bender is 3-4 with a 4.04 ERA, while Jennifer Sutton leads the team with 44.2 innings of work with a 2-5 record and a 6.27 ERA. Sutton leads the team with 25 strikeouts, while Bender has 24.
