
Women's Tennis Evens Weekend Record with Sweep of Butler

INDIANAPOLIS - The IPFW women's tennis team evened its record to 1-1 on the weekend with a sweep of the Butler Bulldogs on Sunday afternoon.
The win improves IPFW's record to 9-7 on the season, as the Mastodons cap their six-match road swing on Saturday, March 29 when the team travels to Green Bay, Wis. for a battle with the Green Bay Phoenix.
In the win over Butler, the Mastodons took two of three doubles matches to earn the point. Mayu Sato and Marcy Huck picked up an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles, before Ella Norgren and Carlota Trevino won 8-5 at No. 3.
Sato kept her momentum from doubles to win 7-6, 5-7, 6-3 at No. 1 singles, while Norgren also needed three sets at No. 2 by scores of 5-7, 6-4, 6-4. Sofia Sorokina needed two sets for her win at No. 3 singles (6-2, 6-2), as Miloslava Shusotva was victorious by a 7-5, 6-1 score at No. 4.Â
Huck went undefeated on the day with a 6-0,6-2 win at No. 5 singles, before the match was capped with a Carlota Trevino 6-3, 3-6, 10-3 win at No. 6.
