Softball Takes on Evansville and Murray State in Weekend Tournament

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The IPFW softball team opens play at the Evansville Aces Invitational, where the team will face off twice against Evansville and Murray State.
SCOUTING THE MASTODONS
IPFW comes into the game riding a six-game win streak with victories over Lamar, Marist, North Carolina Central (twice), and Mercer (twice) - giving up just three runs in that stretch.
The Mastodons have four players hitting at .300 or better on the season, and are batting .278 as a team. Larissa Franklin is batting .456 on the year with a team-high 19 runs scored and seven stolen bases. Ashleigh Bousquet bats .345 on the year with nine RBI's and a team-high six doubles. Dani Pugh, the defending Summit League Player of the Week, and leads the team with four home runs, 27 RBI's, and is hitting .345 with a .621 slugging percentage.
The pitching staff is led by three-time Summit League Pitcher of the Week Miranda Kramer, whose 104 strikeouts this season are more than the team totals of both of the opponents this weekend, and nearly equal to the two teams' combined total (Murray State 63, Evansville 50). She is 7-3 with a 1.31 ERA, and her 104 strikeouts have come in 64.1 innings of work. Megan Flenniken is 6-2 on the year with a 2.32 ERA, as she has 36 strikeouts in 45.1 innings, as opponents hit just .215 against her.
