
Women's Tennis to Battle Hilltoppers on Sunday

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The IPFW women's tennis team kicks off its spring break week on Sunday with a trip to Bowling Green, Ky., to face off against the the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers.

IPFW, who is 7-6 on the season, are on a three-match win streak with wins over Indiana Tech, Robert Morris, and Youngstown State.Â
Mayu Sato, a two-time Summit League Player of the Week is 12-1 at No. 1 singles this spring, and 18-7 overall. Miloslava Shustova is 14-12 this year, 9-4 in the spring, playing primarily at No. 4 singles, while Emily Richardson is 4-1 since joining the Mastodons at midseason, playing mostly at No. 6 singles.
In doubles, the pair of Sato and Marcy Huck are 8-3 this spring, while Richardson and Shustova are 6-5 at No. 2 pairs.
SCOUTING THE HILLTOPPERS
Western Kentucky comes into the weekend with an even 3-3 record, with wins over NCAA Division II Southern Indiana and Bellarmine, and over Ohio Valley Conference's Belmont. Despite the even record, the three losses have all been in close matches, 5-2 to Southeast Missouri State, and 4-3 against Austin Peay and Morehead State.
Individually, the Hilltoppers are 23-13 in singles matches, led by 4-2 records from Monta Reinfelde at No. 1, Â Emily Przystawski and Alex Cofford. In doubles, the team is 8-8 overall, including the pair of Madeline Phillips and Reinfelde at No. 1 who is 3-3.
