Men's Tennis Sweeps Western Kentucky

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - The IPFW men's tennis team won for the fifth time in its last six matches, sweeping the Hilltoppers of Western Kentucky by a 7-0 score on Sunday afternoon.
The win improves the squad's record to 9-5 on the season, winning the last two contests.
IPFW started strong, sweeping the doubles competition. Connor Andrews and Karl Wangensten-Oye closed first with an 8-3 win at No. 3 pairs, before the No. 1 team of Daniel Kang and Andres Cobos also won by an 8-3 score to secure the doubles point. For good measure, the No. 2 team of Martin Muadi and Gerard Guell picked up an 8-5 win to clinch the sweep.
Wangensten-Oye was the first to win in singles for the Mastodons with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 6, before Muadi won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 5 singles. Giving the Mastodons the match was Andrews at No. 4 singles, where he won 6-3, 6-2.
Kang was victorious 7-6, 6-3 at No. 1, putting IPFW ahead 5-0, before Cobos won 7-6 (13-11), 6-1 at No. 2. Closing out the match, Guell picked up a 7-6 (8-3), 6-2 win at No. 3 singles.
The Mastodons return to action when they host a stretch of five matches - three in Summit League play, opening on March 21 against South Dakota State.
