
Men's Tennis Wins Pair to Close Home Season

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The IPFW men's tennis team won its 16th and 17th matches of the season with a 6-1 win over St. Bonaventure and a sweep of Huntington in the team's final home matches of the 2014 season.
Against the Bonnies, IPFW took the first two matches in doubles, with an 8-1 win by Karl Wangensten-Oye and Connor Andrews at No. 3, and an 8-1 win by Gerard Guell and Martin Muadi at No. 2 singles. With the doubles point in hand, the No. 1 match featuring IPFW's Daniel Kang and Andres Cobos was halted with the pair trailing 3-2.
Wangensten-Oye shut out his opponent 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 singles, putting the 'Dons ahead 2-0, before Cobos won in straight sets 6-4, 6-4. The match was secured for IPFW at No. 3 singles where Guell picked up a 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 win.
Kang added to his school-record win total with a 7-6, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles, as IPFW went ahead 6-0 after a 6-1, 7-6 win by Martin Muadi at No. 5 singles. The only point for the Bonnies came at No. 4 singles in a 7-6, 7-5 win over Connor Andrews.
The afternoon finale saw IPFW put together a sweep of the Huntington Forresters, including wins at all three doubles position. Guell and Muadi won 8-2 at No. 2 pairs, before Andrews and Wangensten-Oye won 8-6 at No. 3. Finishing for the first time on the day, Kang and Cobos picked up an 8-3 win at No. 1.
At singles, Guell shut out his opponent 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles, while Wangensten-Oye won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 6. Muadi also shut out his opponent at No. 5 singles (6-0, 6-0), giving the Mastodons the match victory. Kang won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, with Cobos picking up a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 2 and Jonathan Raa a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 3.
The team returns to action on April 17 when the team travels to Greeley, Colo., to take on the Northern Colorado Bears in a 4:30 p.m. EST start.
