Softball to Host Pink Out in Final Home Game of 2014

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The IPFW softball team, which recently picked up a vote in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Top-25 Poll, hosts Bowling Green on Wednesday afternoon in a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m. at the IPFW Softball Field.

IPFW has won six of its last eight games, including taking two of three from Summit League leader North Dakota State over the weekend in the FargoDome.
The pitching staff is led by junior Miranda Kramer, who is 16-8 with a 1.64 ERA. She has 10 shutouts and two saves, to go with 256 strikeouts in 158.1 innings of work. Her 256 strikeouts rank third in the country, as her 11.4 strikeouts per seven innings also ranks third. Megan Flenniken has a 15-5 overall record with a 1.93 ERA and 107 strikeouts in 116.1 innings of work, as opponents hit just .204 against her.
Leading the IPFW offense is Larissa Franklin, who is batting .430 with a team-high 38 runs scored and 14 stolen bases. Ashleigh Bousquet (.346) and Dani Pugh (.326) each hit over .300, with Alex Bousquet (.280) just off of the pace. Pugh leads the team with eight home runs and 48 RBIs, while Hillary Kartman has seven home runs and 29 RBIs, each second-best on the team.

Bowling Green comes into the game after seeing their four-game win streak snapped with two looses at Kent State over the weekend.
Leading the offense for BGSU is senior infielder Katie Yoho, who has a team-best nine home runs and 34 RBIs, while also leading the team with a .319 batting average and 21 runs scored. Chelsea Raker bats .306 on the year, as Aspen Searle (.290) and Erika Stratton (.282) are just off the battling plateau pace. Raker and Stratton each have six home runs, while Stratton has drive in 27 runs and Raker 26.
The pitching staff is paced by Jamie Kertes, who is 12-17 in the circle with a 2.53 ERA and 120 strikeouts in 171.1 innings of work. She has walked just 45 batters, as opponents hit .272 against her. Braiden Dillow is 8-6, and has 63 strikeouts in 116.0 innings to go with her 3.02 ERA.
