Men's Tennis To Play For First League Championship

DENVER - For the first time in program history, the IPFW men's tennis team will play in the Summit League Championship Match advancing with a 4-1 win over No. 3 South Dakota State.
The victory improves the No. 2 seed Mastodons to 19-8 and advancing the 'Dons to face top -seeded Denver in the championship match at 3 p.m. ET on Sunday, April 27, with the winner moving onto the NCAA Tournament.
IPFW took the doubles point with victories in the No. 1 and 3 matches. At the top position, Daniel Kang and Andres Cobos took their match 8-7 while Connor Andrews and Karl Wangensten-Oye won at the third position 8-5.
The Jackrabbits fought back to take the first singles point, as IPFW's Jonathan Raa fell to Parker Lawley 6-2, 6-1 at the second position.
Kang - IPFW's all-time winningest tennis player - broke the tie score with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Andrea Boglic in the top singles match. Cobos won his No. 2 singles match 6-2, 6-1 before Martin Muadi clinched the Mastodon win with a 6-2, 6-2 victory in the No. 5 match.
The top two seeds will meet for The Summit League Men's Tennis Championship for the first time since 2009. IPFW and Denver will meet in both the men's and women's championship match marking the first time that the same schools have squared off in both matches since 2003 (IUPUI and Oral Roberts).
