FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The IPFW track and field is set to travel south to compete in the two-day 2014 Miami Invitational, hosted by Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The IPFW track & field team put up numerous strong performances at the Vanderbilt Black & Gold Invitational, despite fighting off rainy and cold conditions in the meet.
The event, which was unscored, saw numerous personal-bests during the meet, including in the 800, where senior Kayla Boyes ran the eighth-fastest time in school history, completing the two-lap event in a time of 2:22.60. Brittany Beard placed 35th overall in a time of 2:28.20, while Emily Craig ran to a personal-best time of 2:33.88 in the race. Karson Rowe (45th/2:35.51) and Nicole Dailey (50th/2:43.14) also competed for the Mastodons.
Boyes also took seventh overall in the 2,000-meter steeple chase in a time of 7:20.27, while classmate Julie Jeszenszky finished a spot behind in a time of 7:24.74. Rowe placed 19th in 7:50.81, while Emma Manchess (8:26.17) and Rachel Kacer (8:29.49) took 23rd and 24th in the event.
Beard placed ninth in the 1,500-meter run, closing the near-mile distance in a time of 4:52.00, becoming the 10th fastest runner in that event in program history, while Tiffany Rauch taking 24th in a time of 5:17.92. Amaya Ayers placed 27th in 5:25.92, as Cheryl Morris (5:33.95) and Alexa Brown (5:46.81) took 29th and 35th, each.
Kayla Zink placed ninth in the discus with a heave of 120-feet, 4-inches (36.67 meters), as Lizzy Frazee placed 11th in the javelin (64-2.25) and 26th in the shot put (29-0.50). Kaeleigh Porter placed 19th in the hammer throw with a toss of 139-1.25, with Shalyn Renfrow taking 12th in the javelin (64-0.5) and 28th in the hammer throw (95-0).
Kyley Marano ran the school's seventh-fastest 200-meter dash with a time of 26.70, placing 24th, while Kaylin Taylor finished 25th in 26.79. Victoria Nida's time of 27.17 saw her become the sixth-fastest 200-meter runner in school history, while Whitney Hampton's time of 27.35 has her as the seventh-fastest 200-meter runner in the history of the program. Alexis Wygant's time of 28.40 put her just outside of the top-10 all-time. Hampton also competed in the 100-meter dash, placing 22nd in a time of 13.45.
Nida, after her time in the 200, became the eighth-fastest quarter miler, with a time of 1:03.02 in the 400-meter dash, as Wygant placed 34th in a time of 1:05.05 and Taylor 1:05.57 for 35th.
Jeszenszky led a group of five Mastodons in the 3,000-meter run, placing 29th in a time of 10:53.23. Andrea Bell took 31st in a time of 10:57.81, with Rachel Zachar finishing a spot later in a time of 11:00.62. Manchess (11:15.56) and Kacer (11:24.02) finished two places apart in 39th and 41st, respectively.
The Mastodons return to action next weekend at the Miami Invitational in Oxford, Ohio.?
