Softball Closes Regular Season With Series Against Jaguars

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The 35-13 IPFW softball team will close its 2014 regular season on Friday and Saturday when the team travels to Indianapolis to take on the IUPUI Jaguars in a three-game series.
SCOUTING THE MASTODONS
The Mastodons come into the game on a six-game win streak, including winning four straight over Mid-American Conference opponents, using 9-0 and 7-4 scores to win at Eastern Michigan on Tuesday afternoon.
For the season, Miranda Kramer has 271 strikeouts, sixth-most in a season in Summit League history, and has a 17-8 record with a 1.76 ERA in 167.1 innings of work, while opponents hit just .182 against her. Megan Flenniken is 17-5 with a 1.98 ERA, striking out 120 batters in 127.1 innings, with opponents batting just .214.
Leading the offense has been Larissa Franklin, who is hitting .459 this year with 73 hits in 159 at-bats. She has scored 44 times this season, and had a streak of 10 straight hits snapped in her final at-bat against the Eagles, a streak that ties for the sixth-longest such streak in NCAA softball history. Ashleigh Bousquet is batting .371, while Dani Pugh is hitting .312. Pugh leads the team with nine home runs and 50 RBIs, as Ashleigh Bousquet, and Hillary Kartman have 30 RBIs, with Alex Bousquet two behind with 28. Pugh's 50 RBIs are tied for the 15th-most in league history, while Ashleigh Bousquet's 16 doubles are tied for 20th.

In the opener the Jaguars picked up two three-run home runs and a two-run double to provide all of the runs, while scoring two in the bottom of the seventh in the nightcap to pull off the come-from-behind win over the Raiders.
This season the Jaguars are batting .308 as a squad, with six regular players hitting .300 or better, led by Roni Patterson who is hitting .382. Patterson, and Ali Mosier (.354) each lead the team with eight home runs while Lindsay Richards has seven. Mosier leads the team with 35 RBI, with Patterson knocking in 31 runs. Morgan Schlobohm has a team-best 16 stolen bases, while Mosier has 14. Mosier also leads the etam with 32 runs scored and 13 doubles.
Cassie Vodde is 10-7 for the Jaguars in the circle, with a 3.87 ERA and 38 strikeouts in 110.1 innings of work. Jocelyn Oppenhuis is 8-8 this year, striking out 81 batters in 101 innings, while sporting a 3.95 ERA.
