Cross Country Continues Season at Eastern Illinois

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - After a strong showing at the 2014 Bison Invitational to open the season, the IPFW men's and women's cross country teams take to the road to compete in the EIU Walt Crawford Open.

SCOUTING THE MASTODON WOMEN
The IPFW women's cross country team got a big collegiate personal best from sophomore Brittany Beard, whose time of 18:30.84 was over 30 seconds better than her previous best of 19:01.87 at the Disney Cross Country Classic last season, and placed her third in the strong field.
Rachel Kacer placed 29th for the Mastodons in a time of 20:27.31, as the trio of Taylor Busch, Andrea Bell, and Sydney Strang finished 36th, 37th, and 38th, respectively. Busch ran a time of 20:54.04 to lead the three, with Bell running a time of 21:02.62 and Strang 21:12.70 to close out the scoring five for the Mastodons.
Twins Breanna and Brittany Fensler rounded out the varsity seven for IPFW, Breanna placing 45th in a time of 21:45.17, and Brittany 50th in a time of 22:02.96.
SCOUTING THE MASTODON MEN
Three freshmen finished inside of the Mastodons' top five overall, and were led by newcomer Gabe O'Keefe who ran a time of 20:46.94 over 6,000-meters in Fargo.
Garret Gleckler and Bret Unger finished neck-in-neck, Gleckler out-leaning Unger with a time of 21:11.85, and Unger at 21:11.98, as the pair placed 39th and 40th, respectively.
Jordan Holloman was the fourth finisher for the Mastodons in a time of 21:22.68, placing 43rd, as Kurt Unger rounded out the scoring five for IPFW in 22:14.65, placing 47th. Ryan Curtis also competed for IPFW in the event, placing 52nd in a time of 22:48.19.
