Cross Country Prepares for Summit League Championships

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The IPFW men's and women's cross country teams travels to Brookings, South Dakota, to compete in the 2015 Summit League Championships, hosted by South Dakota State on Saturday, October 31.

SCOUTING THE MASTODON MEN
The IPFW men's cross country finished with strong performances the last time out in the UE Invitational. Logan Kitchen led the way for the Mastodon men with a 17th place and a career best time of 26:26.0. Bret Unger finished in 20th place with a time of 26:39.0 while Gabe O'Keefe was next to cross the finish in 25th place and a time of 26:44.3.
Randy McComb was the fourth member of the Blue and White to cross the finish in 43th place, while Connor Shaffer finished on the heels of McComb in 44th. McComb had a time of 27:31.6 and Shaffer came in at a personal best time of 27:31.9. Nathan Clary dropped a career best time of 28:46.9 when he came in 59th place and Ryan Curtis came in 61st place and finished with a time of 28:53.3.
Kurt Unger and Collin Cohen also competed in the event for IPFW. Unger finished in 91st place with a time of 31:53.3 and Cohen competed for the first time this season and had a time of 32:25.3 with a 93rd place finish.
SCOUTING THE MASTODON WOMEN
The IPFW women's cross country finished near the top in Evansville with two strong performances by Emma Rafuse and Rebecca Sippel. Rafuse finished in 13th placed with a time of 18:45.2 and Sippel put up a time of 18:46.9 and crossed the finish in 15th.
Breanna Fensler finished in 31st with a time of 19:32.2 while Rachel Kacer was the fourth member of the 'Dons to finish with a time 19:42.3 in 35th place. Caitlyn Kiekhaefer grabbed the final scoring number when she finished in 51st with a time of 21:47.0.
Andrea Bell and Taylor Busch also competed for the Mastodons, Bell finished in 52nd with a time of 20:25.6 and Busch had a time of 21:47.0 placing her in 80th.
