
Men's Tennis Set for Pair in Weekend

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The IPFW men's tennis team heads to southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois areas over the weekend to face off in a pair of matches, the first on Friday in Milwaukee against Marquette, and then in Chicago against UIC on Saturday evening.
SCOUTING THE MASTODONS
IPFW comes into the pair of road matches after a weekend off of competition, and snapping a two-match losing skid with a 5-2 win over Wright State on February 8.
Four Mastodons have double-figure win totals, led by Karl Wangensten-Oye's 14-4 record, and Andres Cobos' 11-9 record. Wangensten-Oye is 5-2 in the spring, including going 3-0 at No. 5 singles, and 2-2 at No. 6. Cobos, the Summit League Player of the Week two weeks ago, is 11-9, and 6-2 in the spring (2-1 at No. 2 singles, 4-1 at No. 3). Martin Muadi and Daniel Cardenas each have 10 wins on the season, while another - Gerard Guell - has seven wins.
The doubles pair of Guell and Muadi are 10-7 this season, and are 2-4 at No. 1 pairs, while the duo of Cobos and Cardenas are a perfect 6-0 at No. 2 doubles, and are 9-5 as a group this season.

Marquette comes into the weekend with a 4-5 record after falling in the team's most recent match at Wisconsin.
Leading the way for the Golden Eagles are a trio of players with double-figure win totals, led by Kristiyan Trukov, who is 12-9 on the season, including 4-4 in the spring, going 1-1 at No. 5 singles and 3-3 at No. 6. Andre Romanello is 11-8 overall, and 4-5 in the spring, 2-5 at No. 4 singles and a perfect 1-0 mark at both No. 5 and No. 6 singles. Daniel Fernandez is the final Marquette tennis student-athlete with double-figure singles wins, and is 10-6, including a 3-0 mark at No. 1 singles and 3-3 at No. 2.
This season the Golden Eagles have used 17 different doubles combinations, with the combined group sitting at 28-24 (53.8 percent). The tandem of Nick Dykema and Vukasin Teofanovic are 6-2 overall, and 1-1 in the spring at No. 1 pairs, while Romanello Trukov are 5-2 overall and 1-0 at No. 3 doubles.

UIC comes into the match - its only match of the weekend - having dropped its last two matches, and is looking for its first win over an NCAA Division I foe - with the team's victories coming over NCAA Division III's Wisconsin-Whitewater and Elmhurst.
In singles, the team is a combined 27-43 (38.6%) between the fall and spring, and the team is led by Carl Hedstrom who is 6-5 on the season, with a 2-1 record at No. 4 singles. Louis Theodor is 5-5 overall, and is 4-4 in the spring with a 2-1 record at No. 3 singles, 2-0 at No. 4, and 0-3 at No. 2.,
In doubles, the pair of Isaac Lloveras and Theodor is 5-5 overall, including a team-best 2-2 at No. 1 pairs. Overall, the Flames have won 36.1 percent of their doubles matches (13-23).
