
Women's Tennis to Host Quartet of Matches Over Weekend

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The IPFW women's tennis team hosts a quartet of opponents over the weekend, as the team has a single match on Friday evening, followed by a doubleheader on Saturday, and then a single Sunday morning contest. IPFW hosts Bowling Green on Friday evening at 7 p.m., before playing host to the Green Bay Phoenix (2 p.m.) and Butler Bulldogs (5 p.m.) on Saturday. The weekend is capped with a battle against the DePaul Blue Demons, who come into the weekend ranked 38th in the country, the highest ranked team to visit Fort Wayne.
SCOUTING THE MASTODONS
IPFW comes into the weekend looking to snap out of its two match losing skid after falling to Toledo and Michigan State on February 15.
Individually the team is led by defending Summit League Player of the Year Mayu Sato, who is 16-6, including an 8-3 mark at No. 1 singles. Carlota Trevino is 12-11, and 4-5 at No. 3 singles, while Sara Sherif is 11-4, 5-0 at No. 5 singles.Marcy Huck has also picked up double-figure victories with a 10-9 record, while Sofia Sorokina is just off of the pace with an 8-9 singles record.
In doubles, the tandem of Huck and Sato are 15-6 overall, and 5-4 at No. 1 doubles. Kristine Lindal and Trevino are 8-4, 3-1 at No. 2 singles, with Alina Schibol and Sherif sitting at 6-6 overall and 5-4 at No. 3 pairs.

SCOUTING THE FALCONS
Bowling Green has started the spring season on a rough patch, losing all seven of its matches, including 7-0 losses at Michigan State and Wisconsin, a 6-1 loss against Cincinnati, and a 5-2 loss against Cleveland State.
After the fall season, Meili Martin finished with a team-high four wins, while three others - Maddy Adams, Hannay Drayton, and Megan Miller - each finished the fall with three victories. In all, the Falcons were 16-41 in singles matches.
In doubles, BGSU was 10-19, as there were three tandems to pick up two wins in the fall.

Kylie Haviland has a team-best 6-4 overall record, as the Bulldogs are a combined 20-40 in singles matches during the season. Bailey Padgett is 4-6 overall, including 3-5 at No. 1 singles, with Kailey Eaton and Rachel Sutton each picking up three wins.
The Bulldogs have a solid 12-14 record in doubles matches - a .462 winning percentage - and are led by Eaton and Padgett who are 4-3 at No. 2 pairs.

DePaul saw its eight-match win streak snapped on February 21, when the team fell to eighth-ranked Alabama by a 4-0 score at the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic, a match after topping No. 60 Princeton 4-2 and No. 52 Indiana by a 5-2 score. In all, DePaul is 2-3 against teams ranked inside of the top-60 this season.
Yuliya Shupenia has a perfect 12-0 overall record, while Jasmin Kling is 12-2 overall in singles play. Rebeca Mitrea (11-2) and Patricia Fargas (10-1) each have at least 10 wins on the season.
In doubles, the pair of Mitrea and Shupenia are 8-2 overall, including going 4-1 at No. 2 pairs and 3-1 at No. 3. Kling and Fargas are 4-1 at No. 1 doubles for the Blue Demons.
