Softball Begins 2015 Season in Georgia

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The IPFW softball team kicks off the 2015 season, the first under head coach Germaine Fairchild, in Macon, Georgia, for the Mercer Invitational. The Mastodons face Jacksonville Sate, Valparaiso, and Mercer over the course of five games in three days. The final two games will be seeded based on team records.

SCOUTING THE MASTODONS
IPFW heads into the Mercer Invitational under the leadership of first-year head coach Germaine Fairchild. The team will see several new faces in the starting lineup needing to replace eight starters from a 2014 team that went 40-15 and finished second in The Summit League.
The 'Dons return nine letterwinners from a season ago, including Prestlee Cooper, Emily Olszewski, and Caitlyn DeLong who started a combined 79 games. Taylor Gordy Prescott and Kelly Pevely also made starts for the Mastodons last season. Utility player Becca Beier and outfielder Brittany Kachur also return to the Mastodon lineup. Back for the 2015 season in the pitching circle for IPFW are Kaitlyn Biere and Sarah Lazarowich.
The team will feature eight new players, including a quartet of junior college transfers.
