MUNCIE, Ind. - Before opening Summit League action this weekend, the IPFW softball team will prepare by playing a doubleheader at in-state rival Ball State on March 18 with first pitch set for 2:30 p.m.

Scouting the Mastodons
The Mastodons are coming off an appearance at the Hoosier Classic where they fell to Bowling Green, Wright State, and Indiana. IPFW scored a combined 10 runs on the weekend and pounded out 22 hits, including a season-high 10 against Wright State. Morghyn Neal led the 'Dons, colleting four hits over the three games, with a pair of doubles and two RBI. Kelly Pevely and Avery Nelson each had three hits and a pair of RBI. Against Bowling Green, Nelson connected on her first career home run as a Mastodon.
Scouting the Cardinals
The Cardinals enter Wednesday's twinbill with a 10-13 overall record and have not played since March 8. Ball State dropped a pair of in five-inning losses to Northwestern (13-0) and Louisville (8-0) as part of the Louisville Softball Classic. Loren Cihlar provided the lone bright spot for the Ball State offense Sunday, drawing a walk versus Northwestern and recording the Cardinals' lone hit of the day versus Louisville. Cihlar has reached base safely in 12 consecutive games for Ball State.
