
Weather Forces Change to IPFW Baseball Schedule

INDIANAPOLIS - Due to bad weather, the schedule for the IPFW vs. Butler baseball series has been changed. The series now opens on Saturday, March 7 at Bishop Chatard High School for a 3:30 p.m. first pitch. The new plan also has the teams meeting for a doubleheader on Sunday, with game times yet to be determined.

Game 2: Chris Myjak (1-1, 3.79 ERA)

SCOUTING THE MASTODONS
IPFW comes into the game as one of the top hitting teams in the NCAA, as the school leads the country in runs per game, averaging 9.2 per game, and ranks third in the nation in batting average (.340), third in on-base percentage (.439), and fourth in slugging percentage (.533).
Brandon Soat leads the way for the Mastodon offense, batting .444 on the year with 15 runs scored with half of his 20 hits going for extra bases including three triples and two home runs. He currently leads the Summit League with 17 RBI's. Jackson Boyce (.429) and Brock Logan (.407) each bat over .400, with Shane Trevino (.395) just off of the pace. Trevino has driven in 14 runs, while Kendall Whitman (.325 batting average) and Shannon Baker (.320) have 11 and 10 RBI's, each. Evan VanSumeren (.311) is tied for the team lead with 15 runs scored.
The pitching staff has been led by the trio of starters of Wells, Miller, and Storie, as Miller has 17 strikeouts in 12.2 innings, Wells 16 strikeouts in 14 innings, and Storie with seven strikeouts in 13.2 innings of work. Jake Weber has two saves and a 1-0 overall record at the back end of the bullpen, who have a combined 4-1 record among non-starters.

Butler comes into the meeting with a 1-9 overall record, with the team's win coming against East Tennessee State on February 28.
Chris Marras leads the Bulldog regulars with a .333 batting average, as Michael Fries (.316) and Ryan Wojciechowski (.308) hit over .300 for the season. Wojciechowski,leads the team with seven RBI's, while Drew Small has a team-best five doubles, Three players, Fries, Wojciechowski, and Small have each scored nine runs this season.
Morton leads the tam with 14 strikeouts in 16.1 innings of work, while Schank and Peter Nyznyk each have 11 strikeouts. As a team, the Bulldogs bat .234 on the year, while giving up a batting average of .339.
