Women's Tennis Hosts Four in Summit Tournament Preparation

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The IPFW women's tennis team will face off for four matches in the coming weekend, three of which will be against Summit League teams, as a final tune-up before the 2015 Summit League Championships hosted at the Dr. Rudy and Rhonda Kachmann Tennis Center on the IPFW campus.
SCOUTING THE MASTODONS
IPFW stands at 19-7 on the season, 2-1 in Summit League play, and 12-3 in its last 15 matches.,
Leading the way in singles for the Mastodons is Mayu Sato, the defending Summit League Player of the Year, who is 30-7 on the season, and 3-0 in Summit League play. Five total players have double-figure wins, while Carlota Trevino is 21-15, Sara Sherif 20-9, Sofia Sorokina 19-12, and Marcy Huck 19-13. As a team the Mastodons are 129-98 in singles matches, a winning percentage of nearly 57 percent.
Huck and Sato have teamed up for a 22-11 overall record in doubles, including a 12-9 mark at No. 1 pairs. Sara Sherif and Alina Schibol are 16-9 as a team, 14-7 at No. 3 pairs with Kristine Lindal and Trevino are 16-7 in doubles, and 11-4 at No. 2.

SCOUTING THE LEATHERNECKS
Western Illinois, under the leadership of former Mastodon standout Raquel (Vescovi) Allen, come into the weekend with a 5-18 overall record; however, have won four of its last five matches with wins over Illinois College (6-1), ,Illinois-Springfield (6-1), Monmouth College (6-1), and Quincy (4-3) - all despite having a sixth player every match since March 14.
In singles, No. 1 player Courtney Lubbers leads the team with 10 victories, and is 10-12 this spring in singles action. Arianna Demos has a 7-15 overall mark in singles, and is 5-3 at No. 2, 2-11 at No. 3, and 0-1 at No. 4 during the spring season.
In doubles the Leathernecks have a combined record of 11-52 (17.5 percent), as the duo of Lubbers and Jenna Wallace are 5-17 at No. 1 pairs, and Demos and Nicole Jones are 5-13 at No. 2

SCOUTING THE JACKRABBITS
South Dakota State comes into the weekend having won 10 of its last 11 matches, with the only blemish coming against the Denver Pioneers.
Leading the way in singles for the Jackrabbits is the team's No. 1 player Iasmin Rosa, who is 13-3 overall, and is 4-0 in Summit League play, setting up a battle with IPFW's Sato for the front runner in the Summit League Player of the Year. Four others, Beatriz Souza (12-6), Elif Gabb (11-4), Tacy Haws-Lay (10-7), and Florencia Magni (10-8) all have at least 10 wins on the season, with Ffion Davis just off the mark with nine wins.
In doubles, the tandem of Davis and Rosa are 13-2 at No. 1, while Haws-Lay and Souza are 7-8 at No. 2, and Gabb/Magni are 9-7 at No. 3 pairs.

IUPUI, which started its season strong, has dropped six of its last eight matches, with wins over Lenoir-Ryne and Oral Roberts during that stretch.
Samantha Mayer and Bobbi Modesto each have nine wins for the Jaguars to tie for the team lead, as Valeriia Lavrenchuk is 8-7, including a 7-7 mark at No. 1 singles. Overall the Jaguars are 43-57 in singles, for a percentage of 43.0.
In doubles, Rachel Bridegroom and Modesto are 9-6 together in doubles, going 3-2 at No. 2 pairs, and 6-4 at No. 3 pairs.Lavrenchuk and Mayer are 6-10 together at No. 1 pairs, and the Jaguars have used four different combinations at No. 3.

The doubles teams are led by Raquel Manzoni and Barbara Olivera are 3-2, while Ashley Benvenuti and Stephanie Perez are 2-1 as a doubles team.
