Softball Drops Doubleheader to Bison

Emily Olszewski collected the lone hit on the day for the 'Dons, a double in game two.
In game one, IPFW starting pitcher Sarah Lazarowich escaped a jam in the first inning after two batters reached. The 'Dons were unable to hold North Dakota State off the scoreboard in the second as it scored six runs in the inning before adding four runs in each of the final three innings
The Mastodons were unable to reach base against the defending Summit League pitcher of the week, Krista Menke, who threw a perfect game in the opener.
Lazarowich suffered the loss for IPFW, scattering seven hits in three innings of work. Avery Nelson came on to pitch two innings and allow eight hits.
Game two saw NDSU take an early 1-0 lead in the first on a sacrifice fly. IPFW's first base runner of the game came in the bottom of the second as Morghyn Neal reached on a Bison error, but was left stranded at first.
North Dakota State scored twice in the third and four more times in the fourth to extend its lead. In the bottom of the fourth inning, Olszewski connected on her fourth double of the season, taking a 2-0 pitch over the head of the left fielder. Unfortunately for the Mastodons the rally stalled there as the next three batters went down in order.
The Bison added three runs in the top of the sixth the end the game as the 'Dons were unable to push a run across in the bottom of the inning.
Kaitlyn Biere threw a complete game in the loss, allowing 14 hits while striking out three.
