4/26/2015 4:15:00 PM | Softball
Kelly Pevely was a perfect 3 for 3 at the dish for the Mastodons with three singles and a run scored. Miranda Marion and Prestlee Cooper each finished with a pair of hits. Cooper's hit came on a double as she also finished with an RBI and a run. Taylor Gordy Prescott added a double and a RBI for the 'Dons.
SDSU jumped out to an early lead with back-to-back doubles in the bottom of the first to score a run. The Mastodons tied the game in the top of the second as Pevely led off with a single through the left side. One out later Whitney Ennis delivered a single up the middle to put runners on the corners. Cooper then doubled down the right field line to bring home Pevely. Lindsay Burke reached on an infield single to load the bases but the next two IPFW batters were retired.
The Jackrabbits added three runs in the bottom of the second to take the lead for good before adding another run in the third.
The 'Dons scored their final run in the top of the fourth. With one out, Cooper reached on an infield single. After a sacrifice bunt moved her to second, Gordy Prescott brought Cooper home on a double down the left field line.
Kaitlyn Biere suffered the loss in the circle, throwing a complete game while allowing five runs on 10 hits with two strikeouts.
With its Summit League season over, IPFW travels to Detroit for a non-league doubleheader on April 29 beginning at 3:30 p.m.
