
Baseball Chases Wins Record Against North Dakota State

FARGO, N.D. - The IPFW baseball team - which tied the program record for wins in a season - will look to etch its name into the all-time top spot over the weekend as the team faces off against the North Dakota State Bison in a three-game series at Newman Outdoor Field.
IPFW's 25 wins this season are tied with the 1998 and 1994 teams that each won 25 games. A win on Friday would also give IPFW nine straight wins, tying the 1997 team with the longest win streak in program history.

SCOUTING THE MASTODONS
IPFW comes into the weekend looking for a win to break the program's all-time wins record, and a win on Friday would tie the school record for longest win streak.
Offensively the team has seven players hitting at .300 or better, led by shortstop Greg Kaiser, who is batting .366 and also leads the team with seven home runs, 93 total bases, and .641 slugging percentage. Shane Trevino has a team-best 44 RBI's in 41 games, while batting .319 and leading the team with four triples. Four players - Brandon Soat (41), defending Summit League Player of the Week Kendall Whitman (37), Trevino (36), Evan VanSumeren (33), Kaiser (31) - have more than 30 runs scored this season.
Freshman pitcher Evan Miller - the reigning Summit League Pitcher of the Week - leads the Summit League with 71 strikeouts and has a 5-2 record and 4.03 ERA for the team lead. Trevor Storie has a 4-4 record and a 4.57 ERA with 38 strikeouts, while Ryan Wells has 55 strikeouts in 55 innings to go with his 4-5 record. Closer Jake Weber leads the Summit League with nine saves, striking out 37 batters over 32.1 innings and a 3-1 record.
SCOUTING THE BISON
North Dakota State comes into the game having won five of its last seven games, including a pair of mid-week wins against North Dakota (1-0) and Mayville State (8-7) over the past week.
The team is led by Taylor Sanders, who is batting .347 on the season, while Ben Peterson hits .346. Juan Gamez is third on the team in batting average, hitting .281, while leading the team with seven home runs. John Skrbec has a team-best 26 RBI's, while tying for the team lead (along with Peterson and Drew Fearing) with 21 runs scored.
