Scouting the Mastodons
The Mastodon men's soccer team enters the weekend after a sweep of Houston Baptist and UT Rio Grande Valley in the UTRGV Invitational. Austin West was named the Offensive MVP of the invitational after scoring both game-winning goals. West, Corey Tom, Jose Rodriguez, and Thilo Körperich were each named to the All-Tournament team. Asbury enters the match after stumbling to Union, 1-3, on September 8. The Eagles lone win came in a 5-4 thriller at Shawnee State on September 1. Ryan Metcalf leads Asbury with five points, coming off two goals and an assist. Four Eagles each have an assist on the year, while Brandon Patterson leads the defensive efforts in goal. Patterson has accumulated 17 saves, with a .739 save percentage, while managing a 2.36 goals against average.Series History
