Cross Country set to Travel to Gainesville

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - After beginning the season at Eastern Illinois the men's and women's cross country team travel to Gainesville, Florida for the first in school history to compete in the Mountain Dew Gator Invitational.

SCOUTING THE MASTODON MEN
The IPFW men's teams had strong performance at Eastern Illinois from freshman Logan Kitchen leading the way for the Mastodons in his first collegiate meet with a time of 21:58.46 placing him in 18th place. Gabe O'Keefe finished right behind him in 19th with a 22:03.41 time. Randy McComb and Bret Unger finished back-to-back the last time out when they finished 24th and 25th and posted times of 22:43.58 for McComb and 22:46.09 for Unger.
Conner Shaffer rounded out the scoring for IPFW with a time of 23:28.22, and placed 27th. Kurt Unger, Nathan Clary, and Ryan Curtis also competed for the Blue and White at Eastern Illinois, they finished 28th, 29th, and 30th. Unger came in at 23:33.80, Clary finished at 24:20.36, and Curtis paced a time of 25:45.54.

Just the like on the men's side the women had a freshman lead the way at Eastern Illinois when Rebecca Sippel finished 5th in her first collegiate race with a time of 18:54.54. Another freshman Emma Rafuse finished just outside the top-10 when she place 11th and with a time of 19:15.73.
Rachel Kacer ran a time of 20:16.05 and finished 23rd last time out, while Breanna Fensler and Caitlyn Kiekhaefer finished back-to-back at 28th and 29th to round out the scoring for the Mastodons. Fensler came in at a time of 20:41.38 and Kiekhaefer posted a time of 20:44.15. Andrea Bell, Brittany Fensler, and Taylor Busch also competed at Eastern Illinois, Bell placed 31st with a time of 20:53.46, Fensler finished with a time of 21:15.55 which placed her in 34th, and Busch came in 41st with a time of 26:33.48.
