2/19/2016 8:46:00 PM | Softball
Pevely connected on solo home runs each of the two games, finishing the day 3-of-6 with two runs and two RBI. Sierra Miranda, Amber Davis, Jessica Murray, and Caitlyn DeLong all collected a pair of hits on the day. Emily Olszewski scored twice for the 'Dons.
In the opener, the Skyhawks took the lead early, scoring four unearned runs in the first inning. They tacked on another run in the fourth with two outs and another in the fifth on a double steal.
The lone IPFW run came in the fourth when Pevely deposited a 2-2 pitch over the left field wall. Sarah Lazarowich took the loss, throwing six innings and allowing two earned runs on six hits, while striking out two. Elizabeth Snodgrass came on to pitch the final inning, striking out one and allowing one hit.
The Mastodons jumped out to the early lead in the afternoon game as Olszewski's one-out single led to a run when she scored on a Raider error. Wright State answered with two runs in the bottom of the first and another in the second.
IPFW tied the game in the top of the third. A leadoff walk from Olszewski was followed by a Murray double, who later scored on a passed ball. The lead was short lived as WSU added three more runs in the bottom half of the inning, all with two outs.
With one out in the top of the seventh, Pevely delivered on her second home run of the day, taking a 1-0 pitch over the wall. Murray and Amber Davis singled to put the go ahead run on base, but the 'Dons were unable to push the run across.
Demitra Burns threw a complete game, taking the loss while allowing six runs, five earned, on six hits.
IPFW takes to the field, tomorrow February 19, for day two of the Chattanooga Spring Classic where it will meet Detroit at 11 a.m. and Dayton at 1:30 p.m.
