Detroit jumped on the scoreboard in game one with a two-out run in the top of the first. The 'Dons scored all three of its runs in the bottom of the fourth, batting around in the inning. After a leadoff single from Pevely, Olszewski followed with a one-out triple. Kristen Zarate added a single before IPFW loaded the bases on back-to-back walks to Caitlyn DeLong and Jenna Balthazor. Sierra Miranda was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, scoring Zarate from third.
Mastodon starting pitcher Sarah Lazarowich got into trouble in the top of the seventh, loading the bases with no one out. Demitra Burns came on for the 'Dons and slammed the door shut, recording three straight outs, including two via the strikeout. Lazarowich picked up the victory, going six innings and allowing one earned run on six hits, while striking out three. Burns picked up her first collegiate save, allowing one hit in an inning of work.
In the nightcap, Dayton jumped out to the early lead as the 'Dons were unable to fight back. A pair of doubles in the first led to two Flyer runs. UD's Kathy Hess hit a pair of solo homers in the third and fifth innings. Dayton added three more runs in the fifth and another in the sixth.
IPFW's run came in the top of the fourth. With one out, Jessica Murray singled down the right field line. Pevely and Davis followed with back-to-back singles to load the bases. Murray then scored on a fielder's choice off the bat of Olszewski.
Elizabeth Snodgrass took the loss in the circle for the 'Dons, dropping her first decision of the season. Snodgrass allowed four runs on four hits over four innings of work. Burns came on to pitch the final two innings and allowed four runs, three earned, on two hits.
