BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - After having its home opener cancelled, the IPFW softball team returns to the road for the three-day Hoosier Classic beginning March 18.

PREVIEWING THE TOURNAMENT
IPFW was supposed to open its home schedule against Eastern Illinois on March 16, but due to field conditions were unable to play. The Mastodons are coming off an 11-game road trip to Florida where the 'Dons went 4-7, including a pair of walk off wins over NKU and UMASS Lowell. Most recently, the Mastodons played in the Under Armour Showcase, going 3-2, and picking up another win over Hartford. During the tournament, Sierra Miranda led IPFW with a .533 average (8 for 15) and a .667 slugging percentage. Lauren Watson also collected eight hits while Kelly Pevely had seven. Taylor Lyman led the way for the 'Dons with five RBIs, including a two-run game-winning double in the UMASS Lowell game. In the circle, Sarah Lazarowich picked up a pair of wins while Demitra Burns collected the other. Lazarowich had a 2.15 era in 13 innings and struck out 10 batters.
While in Bloomington, IPFW will face Wright State, which it has already played earlier this season while at the Chattanooga Spring Classic. The 'Dons will also face Bowling Green, along with Big Ten foe Michigan State and UIC.
