NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Coming off its opening weekend of Summit League play, the IPFW softball team will make the trip to face in-state rival and nationally ranked Notre Dame for a non-league game on March 30 with first pitch set for 5 p.m.

Scouting the Fighting Irish
The Fighting Irish enter the midweek game with a 24-5 overall record. They are ranked 22nd in the most recent USA Today/NFCA coaches poll. Notre Dame dropped two out of three over the week at Syracuse, winning 6-1, but falling 5-2 and 6-4. Prior to the weekend, the Irish had rattled off 19 consecutive wins, including an ACC series sweep at Virginia. They have a pair of wins over national ranked opponents in UCLA (8-6) and UCF (5-1), but also dropped three games to ranked teams in Kentucky (10-7), Cal (8-7), and Washington (5-4). IPFW and Notre Dame have faced two of the same opponents in East Carolina and Bowling Green. The Fighting Irish defeated East Carolina 8-0 and Bowling Green 10-0. The 'Dons fell to ECU 5-1 and in three games against BGSU have gone 2-1.
