IPFW scored a run in the third inning on one hit while aided by an error. Senior Brandon Soat (1-4) doubled to right center field with one out and crossed the plate unearned when classmate Grant Wilson (0-2) reached on the error. The Mastodons added three runs in the sixth on just one hit with the help of a pair of walks. Redshirt-senior Shane Trevino (0-3) and senior Kendall Whitman (0-2) each walked before scoring on a two-run double to right center field by Valenzuela-Reece (1-4, 2 RBIs). Valenzuela-Reece advanced to third via a wild pitch and crossed the plate courtesy a ground ball RBI by redshirt-sophomore Shannon Baker (0-4, RBI).
Orwig (0-1) started for IPFW and pitched the first 4.0 innings while taking the setback, allowing nine hits and nine earned runs with no strikeouts and three walks. Redshirt-sophomore Brandon Phelps tossed innings of relief, scattering hits with strikeouts and walks.
Tyler Lawrence (3-3, 6 RBIs) led Murray State with three hits and six RBIs, including a two-run double in the first inning, and RBI single in the second and a three-run home run in the fourth. John Lollar (2-0) started for the Racers and pitched the first 5.0 innings for the mound win, scattering two hits and an unearned run with seven strikeouts and two walks.
