Sierra Miranda led the 'Dons on the day, going 4 for 7 at the dish with a double, and driving both of IPFW's runs. Amber Davis and Jenna Balthazor each had a pair of hits on the day. In all, eight of the 10 Mastodon starters had a hit on the afternoon.
The Rockets opened the first game with a leadoff single that eventually led to a run. IPFW loaded the bases in the top of the third with no outs, but were unable push across a run.
Toledo added four runs in the bottom of the fourth, three of which came with two outs. The 'Dons got a run back in the top of the sixth as Emily Olszewski led off the inning with a single and stole second. A groundout moved her to third before Olszewski scored on a single to right by Miranda.
IPFW put a runner on in the seventh with a leadoff single by Davis, but a double play ended the Mastodon's chance of a rally.
Sarah Lazarowich took the loss in the circle for the 'Dons, throwing five innings and allowing five runs, two earned, on five hits. Demitra Burns came on for the final inning of work and allowed one hit.
The Rockets again jumped out to the early lead in game two, scoring a run after a leadoff triple in the first. IPFW put runners on in the first, third, and fourth innings but were unable to scrounge up a run. The Mastodons finally broke through and tied the game in the top of the fifth. Taylor Lyman led off the inning with a double and Balthazor walked, before a sacrifice bunt put runners on second and third. One out later, Miranda did it again by pushing the ball through the right side of the infield to score pinch runner Sydney Windlan.
Toledo scored what would be the game-winner in the bottom half of the fifth following a pair of singles with two outs. The Rockets added another run in the sixth on a solo home run. IPFW's final chance in the seventh brought the tying run to the plate after a two-out single by Miranda, but the final out was recorded to end the game.
Elizabeth Snodgrass threw a complete game on the mound for the 'Dons, allowing three runs on six hits.
IPFW returns to action following its bye weekend, when it takes on Valparaiso April 26 at 3:30 p.m.
