Softball Begins 2017 Season in Illinois

ROSEMONT, Ill. - The Fort Wayne softball team kicks off the 2017 season at the Total Control Sports Invitational February 11 and 12. The Mastodons face UIC, Detroit Mercy, Eastern Illinois and Loyola Chicago over the course of four games in two days.

SCOUTING THE MASTODONS
Fort Wayne heads into the Total Control Sports Invitational under the leadership of third-year head coach Germaine Fairchild. The Mastodons returns seven of their eight starting position players and two of the three starting pitchers from a season ago.
The 'Dons returns 11 letterwinners overall from a season ago, including Sierra Miranda who is the lone returner to start in all 51 games. The team is led by four seniors in Elizabeth Snodgrass, Caitlyn DeLong, Jessica Murray and Kelly Pevely.
The roster will feature six new players, including three transfers and three true freshmen. The team will also have two players on the field who were unable to compete last season.
