LOUISVILLE – Three Mastodons finished with multiple hits, but Fort Wayne baseball fell at No. 4 Louisville 12-2 on Wednesday (March 8) afternoon at Patterson Stadium.
The 'Dons were the first on the scoreboard against the Atlantic Coast Conference foe thanks to a run in the top of the third. Travis Upp knocked in Jake Weber on a fielder's choice with the bases loaded in the frame. Fort Wayne made it 2-0 with another run in the fourth. A two-out RBI-single by Weber scored Shannon Baker for the second run.
Louisville rallied back in the bottom of the fourth with five runs to take the lead for good.
Weber, Travis Upp and Brady Hettinger each had two hits for the 'Dons.
Damian Helm started and took the loss for the 'Dons. He is 1-1. Sam Bordner entered in relief for the Cardinals. He threw 1.2 innings to get the win and is now 1-0.
Louisville improves to 12-0. Fort Wayne falls to 3-10. The 'Dons return to action on Friday in the first game of a three-game set at Butler.
