Schedule:
Friday, March 10 - 2 p.m. | Live Stats
Saturday, March 11 - 2 p.m. (dependent on weather) | Live Stats
Sunday, March 12 - 1 p.m. (dependent on weather) | Live Stats
NOTE: Friday's time is moved up from the originally announced time due to Friday's weather forecast. The weather forecast for the weekend will determine the rest of the weekend's schedule.
Where: Bulldog Park | Indianapolis, Ind.
Probable Starters (Fort Wayne | Butler):
GM 1: TBD | Jeff Schank (L - 1-1, 1.00)
GM 2: TBD | Ryan Pepiot (R - 1-0, 3.60)
GM 3: TBD | Connor Mitchell (L - 1-0, 1.42)
Scouting the Mastodons (3-10): The Mastodons have five student-athletes batting .300 or better. Included in that group is Brandon Yoho. The sophomore played in just 14 games last season, but this year is the Mastodons' starter at second base. He is hitting .356 with hits in six straight games. In those contests he is batting 10-of-25 (.400).
Scouting the Bulldogs (7-6): Michael Hartnagel leads Butler in hitting with a .396 average. He is slugging .479 with a team-best 10 runs batted in. Butler possess a 3.74 team ERA. Mitchell Connor owns the squads only complete game on the year, which was a seven-inning shutout at Alcorn State on Feb. 25. Friday will be Butler's home opener. It is also the start of an eight-game home stand for the Bulldogs. Lewis, Saint Louis and DePauw also come town.
Series History: Butler leads the all-time series with Fort Wayne 30-15. The two clubs split a pair of games last year. The Mastodons won 1-0 at home on April 13 and fell 4-1 on March 16 at Butler. The two teams have played each year since 2000.
I'll Take That: The 'Dons have a Summit League best 20 stolen bases on the year, and have only been caught three times. Meanwhile the 'Dons have surrendered only eight stolen bases while throwing out seven would be base stealers.
Swing The Bats: Fort Wayne's team batting average of .290 is the second best in the conference, behind only South Dakota State's .304 mark.
Looking Ahead: The Mastodons travel to Western Illinois next weekend to start Summit League play. It will be a three-game series starting on Friday (March 17) in Macomb.
