Scouting the Mastodons (6-28, 1-14 Summit):Â Fort Wayne starts the second half of the Summit League schedule, having already played a series with each of the other five clubs. Four Mastodons are batting .297 or better. The list includes Dylan Wilbert who had a pair of hits on Wednesday against IU South Bend. Behind the plate, Wilbert has thrown out nine would be base stealers this year. Â
Scouting the Leathernecks (12-22, 8-7 Summit):Â Western Illinois wrapped up the first half of Summit League play at 8-7, tied for third and one game back of second place. WIU took 2-of-3 against Fort Wayne and South Dakota State at home, and at Omaha. The Leathernecks lost 2-of-3 at Oral Roberts and home versus North Dakota State.
