Lexi O’Connell Sets 60 Hurdles School Record At Ball State

MUNCIE, Ind. – In the final meet before the Summit League Championships, Lexi O'Connell set a school record in the 60 hurdles for the Fort Wayne women's track and field team on Friday (Feb. 16) at the Ball State Tune-Up.
O'Connell set the school record with a time of 9.16 in the preliminaries. She recorded a time of 9.27 in the finals to earn fifth overall.
Three 'Dons finished in the top eight in the mile. Rebecca Sippel was third (5:15.04), Hannah Aschliman was sixth (5:21.91) and Sophia Hirzel earned eighth (5:24.15). All three marks were personal records.
Olivia Coleman took eighth in the 60 meters (8.13). Savannah Girolami set a new personal record in the preliminaries of the 60 meters (8.25).
Jenna Quillen also set a PR in the long jump (5.14 meters), taking sixth.
The Mastodons are back in action on Feb. 23-24 at the Summit League Indoor Championships in Fargo, N.D.
