LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Following a rainout on Saturday, Little Rock and Fort Wayne returned to the field on Sunday (Feb. 25) for a non-league doubleheader. The Trojans won opener 2-0 and the second game 7-1.
Game One – Little Rock 2, Fort Wayne 0
Tony Alexander had a RBI single in the first and the seventh innings to knock in both runs for the Trojans. It would be all the offense they would need as Trojans starter Cole Townsend (1-0) went the distance. Brock Logan singled twice off Townsend in the game for two of Fort Wayne's three hits. Zak Kellogg singled with an out in the eighth but was stranded during Fort Wayne's final offensive threat of the game.
Damian Helm started for the 'Dons. He falls to 1-1 with the loss. He allowed two runs and four hits in 6.1 innings. Duane Miller threw a scoreless 1.2 innings.
Game Two – Little Rock 7, Fort Wayne 1
Much like game one, the 'Dons couldn't reach the Little Rock starting pitcher. Chandler Fidel went all nine innings to move his record to 1-1 for Little Rock.
Fort Wayne's only run of the game came on a solo home run by Robert Young III in the eighth inning. He also had a double in the fifth.
Little Rock scored single runs in the first, third and fourth innings to make the score 3-0. They opened it up with a three spot in the fifth before an insurance run in the eighth.
Shane Odzark took the loss. He is now 0-2, giving up three runs in 4.0 innings. Freshman Trevor Armstrong threw a scoreless 2.2 innings in the game.
Little Rock improves to 4-3. Fort Wayne falls to 2-4. The 'Dons travel to Murray State next weekend.
