Mastodons Drop Pitchers Duel to BGSU

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Fort Wayne softball team dropped a pitcher's duel to Bowling Green 1-0 on Wednesday afternoon (March 28).
Both teams combined for seven hits as each side allowed only two walks. Lauren Watson, Morganne Denny and Courtney Holm each collected a base hit for the Mastodons.
Denny singled up the middle in the top of the first with two outs, but was left stranded. The Falcons scored the game's only run in the bottom of the first. With one out, BGSU got a triple to the gap and then a single through the left side brought home the runner.
The 'Dons had a couple of scoring chances in the game, with their best opportunity coming in the top of the seventh. A pair of walks put runners on first and second, but a groundout ended the threat and the game.
Starting pitcher Addie Benham took the loss, tossing 2 2-3 innings, allowing one run on three hits with a strikeout. Bailey Benefiel came on for the final 3 1-3, allowing only one hit and recording two strikeouts.
