Mastodons Fall to Warhawks on Day Two

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Fort Wayne softball team was unable to get its offense going on day two of the Blues City Classic, as the Mastodons fell to ULM 7-0.
Courtney Holm and Brooke Imel accounted for the two Fort Wayne hits.
The Warhawks opened the scoring in the bottom of the first on a two-run double. ULM added five runs in the third on a Mastodon error, a double steal and then back-to-back home runs.
The best chance for the run by the 'Dons came in the top of the fifth. With one away, Holm and Addie Benham drew walks, but the next two batters were retired.
Bailey Benefiel started in the circle for the Mastodons, going three innings and allowing seven runs, two earned, on seven hits and striking out three. Shaina Eyre threw three innings of shutout relief, surrendering three hits while notching two strikeouts.
Fort Wayne closes out the Blues City Classic tomorrow, March 4 against Bradley at 10 a.m. ET.
