Wilzbacher and Burns Homer in Series Finale

Four different players had a hit on the day for the 'Dons. Demitra Burns led the team with two RBIs and a home run. Lacey Wilzbacher also had a home run.
The Mastodons jumped on WIU early as Wilzbacher drove the second pitch of the game over the center field wall for a leadoff home run. It was Wilzbacher's third home run of the season. The Leathernecks responded in the bottom of the second with two runs. They added a solo home run in the second, and then back-to-back home runs in the third.
In the fourth, Burns pinch hit, and on the first pitch of her at-bat, delivered a two-run shot down the left field line for her second home run of the year. WIU added a solo home run in the fifth for the final run of the game.
Addie Benham started in the circle for the 'Dons and took the loss after throwing two innings, and allowing three runs on four hits, while striking out two. Bailey Benefiel came on to throw three innings and surrendering four runs on four hits with a strikeout. Shaina Eyre threw the final inning and allowed one hit while striking out a batter.
Fort Wayne returns to action when it travels to in-state rival Valparaiso Wednesday, April 11 for a 4:30 p.m. ET first pitch.
