ROSEMONT, Ill. - The Purdue Fort Wayne softball team kicks off the 2019 season when the Mastodons compete in the three-day Total Control Sports Invitational.

SCOUTING THE MASTODONS
Purdue Fort Wayne heads into the Total Control Sports Invitational under the leadership of fifth-year head coach Germaine Fairchild. The Mastodons returns 10 players from a season ago, including a pair of All-Summit League Second Team selections in catcher Maria Palmegiani and shortstop Lacey Wilzbacher. The 'Dons also have back 2017 Second Team selection Lauren Watson. Sydney Windlan provides senior leadership in the outfield for the Mastodons.
Every returner started at least one game for Purdue Fort Wayne a season ago. They include: Morganne Denny, Brooke Imel, Lexi Smalarz, Payton Hollis, and Rachel Everson. The lone pitcher returning in the circle for the Mastodons is Shaina Eyre, a sophomore who garnered Pitcher of the Week honors a season ago.
The roster will also feature six true freshmen: Ashley Haas, Abby Baez, Camryn Mosher, Alise Hale, Lauren McConnell, and Alyssa Malicki.
