Mohler Connects On Home Run in Series Opening Loss At Oral Roberts

TULSA, Okla. – The Mastodons recorded eight hits on Friday (March 15) but fell at Oral Roberts 13-3 in the Summit League opener for both clubs.
The 'Dons went up 3-1 in the second inning thanks to a three-run home run by Garrett Mohler. Trenton Stoner and Jacob Dickson scored on the blast.
The Golden Eagles took the lead back with two runs in the third and one in the fourth. It was a 5-3 Oral Roberts lead entering the seventh but back-to-back frames of four runs ended the game.
Cameron Boyd started and suffered the loss for the 'Dons. He is 0-4. He went 5.0 innings, striking out four Golden Eagles. Josh McMinn went six innings, giving up the home run to Mohler. He threw 102 pitches. He gets the win and is now 3-2.
Andrew Lawvere finished with two hits for the 'Dons. Andrew Pace knocked in four runs with a home run for ORU.
Oral Roberts improves to 7-8 (1-0 Summit League). Purdue Fort Wayne falls to 4-12 (0-1 Summit League. The same teams will go at it again on Saturday.
