'Dons Unable to Get Bats Going, Drop Pair of Contests

In the first game of the day, the Lions jumped out to the lead with a run in the first. SLU would add a two-run home run in the third. The Mastodons scored their lone run in the bottom of the sixth. Brooke Imel broke up the Lions' perfect game with a leadoff single to left. After a sacrifice bunt moved her to second, Imel would score on an SLU error.
Lauren McConnell took the loss, falling to 3-2 on the year. She threw a complete game while allowing three runs on five hits and striking out three.
Game two saw EKU score four runs in the top of the first. They would add on two runs in the fourth before scoring five times in the fifth. The 'Dons scored in the bottom of the third after a leadoff walk to Lacey Wilzbacher. She advanced to second on a wild pitch, and then third on a fly out. Wilzbacher came home on an infield single by Alise Hale.
Alyssa Malicki's record fell to 1-3 on the year as she lasted 2-3 of an inning. Shaina Eyre came on to pitch the final 4 1-3, allowing two earned runs and striking out two.
Purdue Fort Wayne closes out the ASU Invitational tomorrow, March 3, with a rematch against Eastern Kentucky at 10:30 a.m. ET, followed by Tennessee Tech at 5 p.m. ET.
