Mastodons Fall in Doubleheader at Southeast Missouri State

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO. – Purdue Fort Wayne closed out a three-game set at Southeast Missouri State on Saturday with a pair of losses to the Redhawks. The 'Dons fell 10-1 in the opener and 14-1 in the nightcap.
Game One – SEMO 10, Purdue Fort Wayne 1
Win: Noah Niznik (2-0)
Loss: Cameron Boyd (0-2)
SEMO scored two runs in the third and one in the fifth but broke open the game in the sixth with a seven-run inning. Tyler Wilber and Andrew Keck each had three hits for the Redhawks.
The Mastodons' run came in the ninth when Austin Wilkie singled to left to score Braxton Turner. Wilkie finished with a hit in each game on Saturday.
Cameron Boyd started and went 5.0 innings. He allowed one earned run in 5.0 innings.
Game Two – SEMO 14, Purdue Fort Wayne 1
Win: Daniel Bergtholdt (2-0)
Loss: Shane Odzark (0-1)
The Mastodons scored in the third inning on a single by Brandon Yoho that saw Jack Lang come around.
Shane Odzark started and took the loss after giving up six runs in 3.0 innings. Jarrett Miller tossed a scoreless inning of relief.
Connor Basler had three walks and three runs scored for SEMO.
The Redhawks are now 8-3. The 'Dons fall to 4-6. Purdue Fort Wayne returns to action on Tuesday (March 5) at Dayton.
