Butler Edges Purdue Fort Wayne In Shortened Game

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Purdue Fort Wayne dropped a non-league game to Butler on Saturday (March 9) afternoon 7-1. The game was shortened to six innings due to rain. It was a 2-1 game entering the sixth before Butler scored five runs in the frame to pull away in what would be the final inning.
Ryan Pepiot went all six innings for Butler. He received the win and is now 2-1. Cameron Boyd threw the first five innings for the Mastodons. He is 0-3 after giving up five hits and two runs in 5.0 innings.
The Mastodons scored their lone run in the fifth. Jacob Dickson doubled in Alec Brunson for the tally.
James Gargano and Harrison Freed each recorded two hits for the Bulldogs.
Butler improves to 6-5 with the win. The 'Dons are now 4-8.
The game was played on the campus of Northern Kentucky University due to unplayable field conditions in Indianapolis. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Sunday at NKU.
