'Dons Drop Opener At Western Illinois

The Mastodons opened the scoring in the game with Young's home run in the second inning.
Western Illinois responded with four runs in the third and seven more in the fourth. The 'Dons added a run in in the fourth when Aaron Chapman knocked in Andrew Lawvere.Â
Chapman tripled in a run and then scored in the seventh to make it an 11-4 game. WIU tallied three runs in the bottom of the eighth to end the contest.Â
Cameron Boyd suffered the loss. He went 3.1 innings and suffered the loss. Jace Warkenstien earned the win for WIU. He threw 7.2 innings.Â
The 'Dons and Leathernecks will play a doubleheader on Saturday in a noon ET start. The twinbill is an attempt to avoid the weather predicted for Sunday.
