BROOKINGS, S.D. – South Dakota State defeated Purdue Fort Wayne 8-0 in a Summit League baseball contest on Friday (May 3) afternoon.
South Dakota State did most of their damage in the third inning when they put four runs on the board. They followed with two in the fourth and two more in the seventh. Josh Falk knocked in three runs for the Jackrabbits.
On the mound, SDSU starter Tyler Olmstead went the distance to earn the win. Cameron Boyd received the loss after tossing 4.0 innings. Duane Miller, Trevor Armstrong and Nathan Hefle each recorded scoreless innings in relief.
The 'Dons had four hits on the day with Travis Upp recording a double.
The series will continue on Saturday (May 4) with the middle game in a 2 p.m. ET first pitch.
