‘Dons Drop Opener at Miami

OXFORD, Ohio – Drew Reich and Alex Evenson each knocked in a run in the Mastodons' 6-2 baseball loss at Miami on Friday (Feb. 21). It was the first of three with the Redhawks.
Both of the Mastodon runs came in the eighth when the 'Dons made it a 3-2 contest. Miami responded with three in the bottom of the inning for some insurance runs.
Garrett Mohler finished with two hits for the 'Dons. Cristian Tejada had three hits for the Redhawks.
The 'Dons threatened in the ninth, but ended the game with two runners on base.
Cameron Boyd threw a career-high seven innings but suffered the loss. He walked just one batter. He is 1-1. Sam Bachman went 8.0 innings for Miami and earned the win.
Miami is now 1-3. The 'Dons are 3-2. The two clubs will play again on Saturday at 2 p.m.
